TV446 – 1860s Darted Bodice

(3 customer reviews)

$12.00$17.00

This bodice is drafted for the reenactor, and is the basic darted bodice that was seen throughout the 1860’s. Though seen as casual wear in 1860, by 1863, this style gains popularity and becomes accepted for more dressy occasions. By 1865, it is the most common bodice style, and remains so until the 1870’s.

It has a jewel neckline, moderately dropped shoulder, and ends round at the natural waist. The center front is cut on the straight of grain, and is fitted with 2 darts. The back is fitted with a curved T-back seam, and a side piece. The sleeves are the 2-piece coat sleeve, with the slightly full elbow that was popular 1863-1869.

Also included, are 2 styles of linen collars; a pointed sailor or “flat” collar (pre-1864), and a pointed stand collar (1864 and later.) The collars are basted into the bodice neckline prior to wearing.

The E-Pattern contains the following formats:
Letter/A4 – Prints on 25 sheets, needs assembly.
A0 – Prints on 2 sheets.
Shop Copy – 36Γ—50β€³ page 1.

This pattern is so versatile and well done. I bought it to sew a bodice for my mom. My mom is *fluffy* and does not wear a corset. We were able to fit it nicely and she looks wonderful in it! I then used it to make my little sister her first “big girl” dress. My sister is teeny tiny and wears a corset. Again, the end result was beautiful and went together easily. I highly reccomend this pattern to anyone. Beginner on up. Thanks Heather, for a great pattern! 😊

This pattern is excellent. It fit perfectly with no fit modifications on the first try using the TV sizing system. The only change I made was narrowing the sleeves, but that was a matter of personal preference. I’m really pleased with how it came out and I definitely plan on making this bodice again!

This pattern is excellent. It came together very easily and fits perfectly. I only had to make an adjustment to the front and add some fabric to the front closure. It makes a wonderful, very comfortable basic bodice and I will definitely use it for more costumes.
