(2 customer reviews)

$12.00$17.00

This pattern is for a variety of 1845 dresses. It is drafted using a German tailor’s guide written circa 1843. This style is suitable for the years 1840-1853, and should be worn over several petticoats rather than a hoop. View A has a gathered Fan Front bodice, with a fitted lining and a smooth back. View B has a fitted front with reveres, narrow at the waist and widening out to the shoulders. The bodice can also be left plain if desired. The bodice is fitted in the front with seam from shoulder to front waist, instead of darts. It also has a side, side back, and back seams for a closer fit recommended for the larger German body frame. The waistline is slightly low all around, with a deep point in the front. The full skirt can be attached to the bodice, or can be sewn to a separate waistband. The closure is in the center back, with hooks and eyes. The narrow 2 piece sleeve can also be headed with an optional sleeve cap.

The E-Pattern contains the following formats:
Letter/A4 – Prints on 36 sheets, needs assembly.
A0 – Prints on 2 sheets.

    I. Love. This. Pattern!!!!
So I bought this pattern to make a Jane Eyre inspired dress. Using view A, I sewed a dress that looks exactly like I hoped it would. Easy to fit, and a joy to wear. I always get compliments when I wear it. 😊

Skip forward a couple years and I was trying to sew my wedding gown. I was using a different pattern from a different company; it was a train wreck.
In desperation I pulled out this pattern.
I knew that, while the look I was going for was different, the fit was perfect. After some alterations to get the look I needed, I had the perfect wedding dress. Thank you Heather for saving the day! 😊

I absolutely love this pattern. I made view b first and it came together so easily and nicely that I then went and made view A. The construction is very simple and straightforward and the pattern is easy to adjust for fitting purposes. It’s a very comfortable dress to wear once finished.
