TVE22 – 1905 Circular Skirt

(2 customer reviews)

$13.00$19.50

Circular skirts were very popular in the mid 1904-1907, when very full, straight skirts were the most stylish. Known as a circular skirt in two parts, there is a seam at both center front, and center back. The back is fitted, in habit style, with a 6″ sweep. The closure is in the center back. With the seams cut bias, this skirt is especially suited to stripes and plaids, which form a chevron effect at center front and center back. An optional band of fabric can be added to the skirt to simulate a pointed tunic.

This skirt requires 54″ wide fabric. This skirt can also be cut cross-grain with the center front on a fold, which will require 60″ wide fabric for skirt lengths over 41″ long (front length.)

The E-Pattern contains the following formats:
Letter/A4 – Prints on 55 sheets, 2 files, needs assembly.
A0 – Prints on 3 sheets.
Shop Copy – 36×54″ page 1, 36×56″ page 2.

I can not recommend this pattern enough! It goes together really quickly and drapes so nicely no matter how intense your hip spring is! I would definitely recommend cutting on the bias for such a lovely look! I used a striped fabric and it gave a wonderful chevron in the front and back!

Although I love the shape of the skirt and how it turned out in the end, I unfortunately can say I’m pleased with the pattern. I (a beginner) made if with a friend who is quite experienced and w both struggled a lot with the instructions. For example, the pattern pieces all have a letter, but the letters are never mentioned in the text so you keep having to look, there is also clearly a letter missing that is mentioned in the text but not assigned to a Petter piece. A lot of the instructions leave quite a bit open to interpretation which makes this pattern go from a skirt pattern to a riddle which makes it take way longer than it should. It does look very nice, and the chevron idea is great.
