TV493 – 1896 Plain Bodice

This is a basic fitted bodice for the mid 1890’s. Short over the side hip, it has a short point at center front and center back. It has a center front hook/eye closure, military collar, and fitted sleeves with 2 puff variations. It also has an optional brettelle, wide over the shoulder, and tapering at the center front and center back.

This pattern is very pretty made up as is, or can be used as a base to add more elaborate trimmings. The sleeve puffs are suitable for sleeves of 1893-1897, and without the puffs can suit 1890-93 or 1897-99.

The E-Pattern contains the following formats:
Letter/A4 – Prints on 30 sheets, needs assembly.
A0 – Prints on 2 sheets.
Shop Copy – 36×64″ page 1.

45″ wide fabric 60″ wide fabric
Fabric – Bodice and Sleeve Puff 2 1/2 yards 2 1/2 yards
Fabric – Bretelle, Collar, and Sleeve (cuff) 1 3/4 yards 1 yard
Lining 1 3/4 yards
Interlining 1 3/4 yards 1 yards
Netting for sleeve puffs (optional) 1 yard – 72″ wide 1 yard – 72″ wide

Yardages given are with nap, and are approximate only. Smaller sizes may use less fabric.
For Interlining, use a firmly woven fabric like heavy broadcloth, or twill.
For Lining, use a light woven fabric like batiste, broadcloth. May be seen on underside of Brettelles.

Notions: Ten 1/4″ Bones; hooks/eyes for closure.
